Character is more important than Talent!

We live in a world where you get measured on your talent.

You have to do exams every year. You are picked or you're not for a sports team. You have your next step of education to worry about. You measure yourself against someone else in whatever activity you do.

However in times of crisis your talent isn't what gets you through its your character!

Over the upcoming weeks we will find out things about ourselves.
  • Are you a self-starter or do you need someone to push you to be at your best?
  • How much time is too much in front of the TV/Games Console?
  • Is social media always the best place for me? or How can I use it best?
  • What are the things that keep my mind active?

In one day you on average make 35,000 choices. The choices you make matter! They make you person that you are, sometimes we will get this right and sometimes we get these wrong. Think about it. Use this time to grow as person.

This video from Kid President shows this a little bit more.
The bible shows us that this is important. As an example is Jesus regularly went to spend time in isolation to give himself time to grow, he encouraged his disciples to do this as well. Sometimes they managed to this and sometimes they certainly didn't.

We are currently in lent where we recognise Jesus time on his own. Fortunately we aren’t currently just on our own in this situation we all have people around us. Whether on the end of a telephone, through the internet, in our own home, interact with them but see this as a time a growth.

Jesus had this time before he went out and did all of his ministry, before any miracle, before any of the stories we listen too. He developed his character before it all. He had the talent he needed the character!

This enforced time where we are isolated, unable to be as busy as we usually are. Let it show us that character is so much more than talent.
