Huddersfield Mission is recognised locally as a unique place in Huddersfield town centre, in that we are a busy public space that provides support and services for vulnerable and marginalised people, in an open and welcoming environment. We are not a day centre or just a commercial Café.  We are a place where anyone can get a cup of tea or a meal, a meeting venue with 1000 visitors a week, a place that breaks down barriers between people who may have very different lives.

We are proud to be the successor organisation to Huddersfield Methodist Mission and between us we have a history of well over 100 years providing support to the people of Huddersfield, as well as being a community facility and a place of worship.

We support people who find themselves in a sudden and immediate crisis and people who struggle to manage their life for a variety of reasons. Our clients find themselves on the margins of society because of financial poverty, drug and alcohol issues, temporary or on-going mental health problems, a history of offending, learning disabilities or simply a sudden life crisis. We are not specialists in these areas. We refer and signpost people on to other agencies where appropriate, but we are the place in Huddersfield where people in need come. We provide immediate care but also long term support and a relationship of trust as people get the appropriate help they need from the Mission and partner organisations. Our clients often have long term interrelating problems and find using a multitude of single issue agencies confusing and ultimately ineffective unless they have the trusting stable central support that we offer along with a non-stigmatising place of access such as our Café.
