Helen Roberts - Minister

Picture
I have been in the Huddersfield Circuit since 2015 having previously served rural congregations where Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Shropshire met.  I studied science at university where my call to ministry developed. However this path was delayed by illness and I had over 5 years in an office job for the gas industry and then arranged 6 months as an intern in a church in Australia.  I have also served as a mission enabler in North Wales – a literal translation of the Welsh version of my job title was mission stirrer.  I still consider being a ‘stirrer’ as part of my calling!

During my ministerial training I had the opportunity to spend a term in Zambia, and more recently spent a summer’s exchange with a minister from North Carolina, USA.  I have valued these various snapshots of life and ministry in different contexts, but my heart is rooted in the smaller  communities where churches can take a role in their communities. I love the opportunities to be part of local primary schools and other community projects.

I live with poor mental health, giving me an interest in supporting people, challenging stigma, and being open about matters of mental health and wellbeing.

I live with Gabi my dog, and enjoy various crafts when I get the chance.

I blog occasionally at https://aweebleswonderings.blogspot.com/
