David Bidnell - Superintendent
I have been in Huddersfield for seven years, during which I have participated in a number of changes in the circuit. Previously I worked with three congregations in suburban London and before that spent time working for the Methodist Church of Haiti. Interpreting stories is for me a central part of how I live out my faith and discipleship, and in recent years I have completed extensive research on narrative parables in Luke’s Gospel. Stories are important for me because of the way in which they open up possibilities for understanding ourselves and making sense of the world around us and the relationships we share with others. I have a radical approach to faith, by which I mean an approach which seeks to get to the root of who Jesus was for his contemporaries – and therefore also who he is for us twenty centuries later. Living in God’s commonwealth includes for me a focus on freedom and justice and on understanding otherness and difference. I enjoy music and reading and attempt to keep fit by running on a regular basis.
